World Health Organization "Global status report on alcohol and health" (2011) is a comprehensive perspective on the global, regional and country consumption of alcohol, patterns of drinking, health consequences and policy responses in Member States. Includes the Canadian Alcohol and Drug Survey (1994), Canadian Alcohol and Drug Use Monitoring Survey (2008,2009), Canadian Addiction Survey (2004), and the Health Indicators Database 1996 and 1997.

- Global Health Risks (PDF document) is a comprehensive assessment of leading risks to global health. It provides detailed global and regional estimates of premature mortality, disability and loss of health attributable to 24 global risk factors.
- Global Burden of Disease (GBD) analysis provides a comprehensive and comparable assessment of mortality and loss of health due to diseases, injuries and risk factors for all regions of the world.
Government Information
Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse has a legislated mandate to provide national leadership and evidence-informed analysis and advice to mobilize collaborative efforts to reduce alcohol- and other drug-related harms. CCSA reports annually to Parliament and the provincial and territorial legislatures. Look under 'topics' for various aspects of this theme.
