Press releases from official sources provide a simple way to keep abreast of current policy issues.
Most governments and intergovernmental international organizations have central press rooms and post news releases on the Internet in a timely way. These are easily found by using a search engine with the name of the country or organization and "press release*" This guide highlights some of the most frequently used official news sources.

Canada - Federal:

- Federal News Releases (via Library and Archives Canada) This page points to the news release pages of individual federal government departments (where such a grouping of news releases exists)
- Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada Media Room also includes speeches
- Aboriginal Affairs and Northen Development Select "media room" which includes links to their e-Bulletin and speeches
- Statistics Canada Media Room with links to Release dates for major economic indicators in the Daily
- Council of Ministers of Education Canada The Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC) is an intergovernmental body founded in 1967 by ministers of education to serve as a forum to discuss policy issues; a mechanism through which to undertake activities, projects, and initiatives in areas of mutual interest; a means by which to consult and cooperate with national education organizations and the federal government; and an instrument to represent the education interests of the provinces and territories internationally.
